Permanent Resident
Comedy Show
Ivan! Ivan!

Admittedly most of his public is from Spanish or Latin American background, but Australians will rejoice on his wittiness and clever observation of their own culture

Iván Aristeguieta's latest show at Melbourne International Comedy Festival 2015. A hilarious insight to what it means to be an immigrant in Australia...

Iván Aristeguieta is back in Melbourne with his new show Permanent Resident. Here at Spanish Australia Magazine we have been following his career ever since he performed in Melbourne for the first time two years ago. As we predicted, his show has become a must for Latin Americans and Australians alike that enjoy celebrating cultural differences through comedy.

Iván enthusiasm is so contagious that you will be smiling and laughing out loud throughout the entire show. Permanent Resident is not just about his newly acquired resident status and his Venezuelan culture, but also about the Australian peculiarities such as the economy of Australian language, natural produce and wacky expressions that mean exactly the opposite to the words in them.

Admittedly most of his public is from Spanish or Latin American background, but Australians will rejoice on his wittiness and clever observation of their own culture. He makes fun of basic Australian cultural treats without being offensive in any way. That alone is an amazing talent worth witnessing.

He manages to make his audience laugh even when talking about not so cheerful issues like toilet paper in public toilets or high crime rates in his home country. It is all about the joy of being alive and being able to embrace our quirky cultural characteristics no matter where we are from.

His cultural observation is spot on and we cannot wait to enjoy this show and many more to come.

Don't miss it! You still have until the 19th April to enjoy it.
